The 2022 Queen Elizabeth II Platinum Jubilee Gold Sovereign is one of the most historically significant modern Sovereigns ever struck by The Royal Mint. Issued to commemorate Her Late Majesty’s unprecedented 70 years on the throne, this exceptional coin combines over five centuries of Sovereign heritage with one of the most important royal milestones of the modern era.

What makes this issue particularly special is its unique reverse design by heraldic artist Timothy Noad — a detailed Royal Arms within a decorative shield, marked “1952–2022”. Special reverses on Sovereigns are rare, reserved only for major royal milestones. Following Her Majesty’s passing in September 2022, this became one of the final major commemorative Sovereigns of her reign, making it a key transitional coin for collectors.
