Containing 1 gram of pure silver, this small silver bullion bar is an accessible way to begin owning physical precious metals or to add smaller denominations to an existing silver holding. If you are new to buying silver, our beginner's guide to investing in silver in the UK is a useful starting point.

The bar is manufactured by Heimerle + Meule, a historic German precious-metals refiner whose origins date back to 1845, as displayed prominently on the bar itself.

Its compact 1 gram size also makes it an attractive choice for collectors, gifts and buyers looking for fractional silver bullion.

1 Gram Fine Silver Bar

This 1 gram silver bar contains 1g of 999.9 fine silver, representing a purity of 99.99%.

Although considerably smaller than traditional 1oz, 100g, 500g and 1kg silver bars, a 1g silver bar provides an accessible way to own physical silver in a highly divisible format.

For new precious-metal buyers, smaller bars can provide an introduction to physical silver without committing to a larger bullion purchase.

For established silver buyers, they can provide additional flexibility alongside larger bars and coins. If you are deciding between silver bars and silver coins, see our guide to silver coins vs silver bars for UK investors.

Heimerle + Meule Silver Bar

This silver bar is manufactured by Heimerle + Meule, a German precious-metals company with a history dating back to 1845.

The front of the bar displays the manufacturer's name alongside its historic 1845 marking, providing a distinctive connection to the company's long history within the precious-metals industry.

The bar is also clearly marked:

999.9

Made in Germany

Heimerle + Meule

These markings allow the bar's manufacturer, weight and stated silver purity to be quickly identified.

What Does 999.9 Fine Silver Mean?

The 999.9 marking refers to the purity of the silver.

A fineness of 999.9 means the metal is 99.99% pure silver.

This is commonly referred to as fine silver and represents a very high level of silver purity used for investment and bullion products.

With a total weight of 1 gram and a stated purity of 999.9, virtually the entire weight of this bar is pure silver.

How Much Silver Is in a 1g Silver Bar?

This Heimerle + Meule bar has a total stated weight of 1 gram and a purity of 999.9 fine silver.

That means it contains approximately 1 gram of pure silver.

For comparison, one troy ounce of silver weighs approximately 31.103 grams, meaning around 31 individual 1g silver bars would contain approximately the same silver weight as a standard one-ounce bullion product.

However, smaller silver bars will typically carry a higher premium per gram than larger bullion bars due to manufacturing, handling and distribution costs.

Small Silver Bars vs Larger Silver Bars

Choosing between a 1g silver bar and a larger silver bar depends on why you are buying physical silver.

Larger silver bars will generally provide a lower premium per gram because manufacturing costs are spread across a greater quantity of silver.

Small 1 gram bars, on the other hand, provide greater divisibility and a much lower individual purchase price.

For buyers primarily focused on obtaining the maximum amount of silver for their money, larger bars may therefore provide better value per gram. Browse our full range of silver bars to compare sizes and options.

For collectors, gifts or buyers specifically wanting fractional silver, a 1g bar can be a more convenient option.

Is a 1g Silver Bar Real Silver?

Yes. This Heimerle + Meule bar is marked 999.9 Fine Silver.

This represents a stated purity of 99.99% silver.

The bar also carries the Heimerle + Meule branding, its 1g weight, the manufacturer's historic 1845 mark and Made in Germany identification.

The exact VAT treatment of an individual product can depend on the nature of the item and how it is sold, including whether an applicable VAT scheme is being used.

Any applicable VAT treatment should be reflected in the price shown at checkout.
