Metalor 100g Minted Gold Bar

The Metalor 100g Gold Bar contains 100 grams of investment-grade 999.9 fine gold, equivalent to 24 carat gold.

Metalor has a long history in precious metals refining, with its formal bar-manufacturing history dating to 1918. Its investment products are produced across internationally accredited refining operations, and Metalor maintains LBMA Good Delivery accreditation for gold at multiple locations.

The front of the bar displays the METALOR name together with its weight and purity:

100g
999.9
FINE GOLD

The bar also carries its individual serial number, DataMatrix code and assayer/refiner hallmark.

Sealed Metalor Certificate Packaging

The 100g Metalor gold bar is supplied sealed within its certificate blister packaging.

The certificate confirms important information about the bar, including its 100g weight and 999.9 gold fineness, while the serialised bar provides an additional means of identification.

Keeping an investment gold bar within its original packaging also helps protect the bar’s finish and certificate. For guidance on spotting genuine bullion, see our guide: Common Bullion Scams and How to Avoid Them.

100 Grams of 999.9 Fine Gold

Each Metalor bar contains:

100 grams of 999.9 fine gold

This is equivalent to approximately:

3.215 troy ounces of gold

The 100g format sits between smaller investment bars such as 1 oz and 50g products and substantially larger bars such as 250g, 500g and 1kg gold bars.

This makes a 100 gram gold bar an attractive option for investors looking to hold a significant quantity of physical gold in a single, compact bullion product. For a full overview of the available sizes, see our guide: Gold Bars by Size: Which Should You Buy?

Why Buy a 100g Gold Bar?

A 100g gold bar provides investors with a substantial amount of physical investment gold while remaining compact and straightforward to store.

Larger gold bars can often carry a lower percentage premium over the underlying gold price than purchasing the equivalent weight through numerous smaller bullion products, although actual premiums vary according to market conditions and product availability.

A 100g bar can therefore be an attractive option for investors who prioritise the underlying fine gold content of their investment. For help deciding between coins and bars, see our guide: Gold Coins vs Gold Bars: Which Is Better for UK Investors?

The Metalor 100g bar also benefits from recognisable refinery branding, individual serialisation, certificate packaging and 999.9 fine gold purity.

Why Invest in Physical Gold?

Physical gold has been used as a store of wealth for centuries and remains one of the world’s most widely recognised precious metals. Read our guide on how to invest in gold for beginners in the UK for a full introduction.

Investors may choose to hold physical gold as part of a diversified portfolio or as a tangible asset outside traditional financial investments. See how gold compares to other assets in our guides: Gold vs Stocks, Gold vs Property and Gold ETFs vs Physical Gold.

Unlike shares or digital assets, buying a physical gold bar provides direct ownership of the underlying precious metal.

Gold prices can rise or fall, however, and no investment return is guaranteed.

Investment Gold and UK VAT

Qualifying investment gold is exempt from VAT in the UK, making investment-grade gold bars fundamentally different from standard silver bullion for UK VAT purposes.

This Metalor bar’s 999.9 gold fineness is well above the purity threshold applicable to qualifying investment gold. For more on CGT-free gold options, see our guide on CGT-free gold coins in the UK.
